Harish Ahuja, Indian business magnate and owner of Shahi Exports, has purchased a stunning property in London’s Notting Hill for £21 million ($27M). This 20,000 sq ft former convent, located near Kensington Gardens, is one of the year’s largest luxury real estate deals in the UK. The property will serve as a residence for his son, Anand Ahuja, and Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor. Despite the broader luxury market slowdown, Indian buyers like Ahuja are increasingly investing in prime central London real estate, reflecting India’s growing global wealth.
Recent data shows a 3% rise in prime London property purchases by Indian nationals from 2019 to 2023. Notably, this acquisition follows other significant purchases by Indian billionaires, including Ravi Ruia and Adar Poonawalla.
Ahuja’s Shahi Exports is a major supplier for global brands like Uniqlo and H&M, with over 50 factories and 100,000 employees. His son, Anand Ahuja, is also a director at Shahi Exports and manages his own retail business. Sonam Kapoor, known for her Bollywood films, continues her career while residing in this newly acquired property.
